Boat trips in Scheldeland

Bobbing up and down on the water, in the country's most water-rich region

There's nowhere better for some relaxation on the water. Motor on, anchors away and off you sail. A romantic moment for two, an original adventure with the whole family, celebrations with friends or colleagues: where better than on a boat?

See Scheldeland from the other side and go with the flow along the beautiful waters and idyllic water features. Welcome aboard!

Onto the deck with Rederij Rivertours

The most picturesque places on the Scheldt and Dender can be seen from the water. Rivertours organises your ideal trip along the most natural part of the region: the Noordelijk Eiland, Rupelmonde and Temse  as far as Sint-Amands. You board in Aalst, Baasrode, Dendermonde, Ghent, Hamme, Merelbeke, Schelle, Schellebelle, Sint-Amands, Willebroek, Temse or Rupelmonde. The breathtaking views of mudflats and salt marshes, creeks and inlets will leave you speechless.

Prefer a personalised boat trip? They can do that too. Their ships suit company and private events, can sail or stay put at the quay, and accommodate between 20 and 300 guests.

Every Sunday afternoon, you can climb aboard in Temse and enjoy a delicious cold meal, pancakes or some tart on the outside deck, as you take in the typical views of the Scheldt villages and sparkling river. Romantic for two or fun for the whole family, because the children can explore the ship to their heart's content. Your guide shares the story of the region and its inhabitants, its traditions and culinary secrets, and tells you about the eternal battle with flooding, and the beautiful nature areas.

The combination of cycling and sailing is a winner. Along rivers and canals you'll find a whole host of signed cycling routes and stretching tow paths, allowing you to put your cycling skills to the test.

Everything shipshape with Riverstar

From the deck of the beautiful salon boat Wilford from Riverstar shipping company, you can relax and comfortably enjoy the most picturesque spots along the Scheldt. Climb aboard in Boom, Willebroek, Battel or Temse, and discover and visit some unique locations you may already have admired as a film setting (Stille Waters, Over Water, Flikken Maastricht). How about a 'Stille Waters' themed sailing trip to Sint-Amands?

With a delicious drink and meal the magical landscape looks even more enchanting. Your enthusiastic captain will share exciting tales of rivers and canals, the sigma plan and our world port, where each ship has its own story.

A relaxing drink you said? And what about the children? Sit back comfortably in your chair as they enjoy the cosy play area on the lower deck. We bet they will also adore the pancake boat!

Riverstar is also ideal for your visit with friends or family, colleagues or clubs. Tip: something to celebrate? Be sure to mention it when you book and you'll be in for an extra treat. Depart from Boom, Temse and Battel and you can spend your Sunday chatting and brunching. And from Temse there are even culinary sailings, plus a candlelight cruise on offer, for those with romantic intentions.

Glittering party with Greenstarline

Experience the sloshing water for extra party sparkle aboard the Antverpia. This magnificent ship is a true party palace on the water. On the lower deck you can get a drink from the bar and drop off your coat in the cloakroom. Climb the stairs to the upper deck, and you can quench your thirst at the mini bar on the covered terrace. The sun terrace on top of the roof is the place to be on sunny days. The ship sets sail from Puurs or Willebroek and takes you along the Scheldt.

Do you have a big boat party in mind? Ask for more details when you book and the lower deck can be transformed into a party venue complete with disco bar. Your music will rock and roll over every deck. You can take your party to the next level with good food, since the catering deck is equipped with a professional kitchen.

Add the finishing touch to your event by getting your party meal or reception prepared on board. Anything is possible: a big birthday celebration, your wedding, a themed party, family reunion, team event… Right down to the DJ, tour guide, singer or party planner.

The Antverpia can accommodate beween 50 and 170 people, and who prefer to spend the whole voyage sitting down. Rather not spend too much time on your chair? You'll be pleased to know that there's room for 250 pairs of dancing legs or 160 people on the sun terrace.
